Empathy Key to Co-Creation

The three types of empathy are a hot topic in our age of co-creation. If your leaders, MSLs, marketeers or technical teams would like coaching in this area, do call us. It’s a fascinating subject.

Empathy researchers define empathy as:

‘The ability to sense others’ emotions coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling’.

There is real depth in this area which can help you hone or even manage your empathy. You may be using too little or too much.

For certain, developing your E-awareness can help you with: matrix working, co-creation with the NHS or other groups, managing upwards or coping better with upsetting work situations.

Top Tip for Empathy

Listen to Understand

  • Genuinely be interested, want to understand their views.
  • Don’t ever interrupt the other person or just be waiting until you can dive in with your own point. Let them finish fully.
  • Show it by keeping your eyes on their eyes, using open and forward body language and exude ease not rush or competition.

Once Upon a Time…

It’s annual storytelling week, so here is another celebration and recommendation of books and the stories that have influenced our work lives.

Stories are how we communicate at our best and our brains seem wired to receive them too. It is a real art, but one that all of us can learn. Yes really!

On KineticFuture’s Presenting & Storytelling courses we give you specific techniques to uncover the stories that come naturally and find the ones that, for some reason, have a visceral meaning for you.

Whether you are a scientist, a marketeer or a CEO, everyone can easily incorporate stories into their internal or customer meetings. Then we’ll show you how to use your voice and your physicality to tell them with Executive Presence. When the story is yours you’ll find that the passion and impact will come much more naturally.  Have a chat with us if this is something you’d like to discuss karen@kineticfuture.com.

This week’s book (Inside Out Revolution by Michael Neill) was recommended to us by Sarah Matthew from The Vibrant Company.

Kinetic Future’s coaching and group courses will also give you the boost you need to get there – by increasing confidence, resilience, executive presence or presenting skills.

Taming Tigers was recommended to the KineticFuture book club by Colin Boylan, Director at Fresh Perspectives Market Research, thanks Colin!

Colin says:

“Excellent story and fantastic advice. Really helped drive me forward when I was setting up the business.”

Amazon says:

Ditch Your Imposter Syndrome

IMAGE OF RICHARD MADDEN FROM THE BODYGUARD SOURCED FROM GAGE SKIDMORE AT WIKIMEDIA COMMONS & CROPPED FOR USE.

Happy New Year to you. Today I’m thinking about imposter syndrome – when you’re afraid you’re going to be found out. AAAh! Even Richard Madden, The Bodyguard, winning his Golden Globe this week confessed he’s felt like this all his career. Many business leaders I coach tell me they feel just the same.

So why not ditch this stinking thinking for 2019?

Hot news is… I qualified as a Time To Think business coach yesterday!

I love this powerful approach which achieves extraordinary results fast. I can help you discover a whole new way of thinking about business and yourself. And, of course, this includes ditching that imposter syndrome.

Call me and we’ll tackle it together (find out more here).

Imposter Syndrome Top Tip

Ask yourself:

“What could you assume instead (about yourself) in this situation that would be credible, liberating and genuinely true to you?”

For example, my own new assumption would be that:

“I’ve deep expertise in my field and even if I operated at just 20% of my ability, it would make a huge impact”.

Embarrassing to say out loud but helpful when I need to be brave! You’ll have your own.

Have a wonderful weekend. And call me if you’d like to know more about my Thinking Partnership Coaching – one to one or in groups.

Thrive this Christmas!

It’s less than a week until Christmas and we really hope you’re starting to wind down and look forward to taking time out to be with friends and family.

We recently asked for book recommendations that were the secret of your success – thank you so much to everyone that replied.

This week’s book was recommended to us by Sarah Mieszkian from Button, Business Marketing & Admin Support.

Arianna Huffington, the co-founder and editor in chief of the Huffington Post has written a passionate call to arms in her book ‘Thrive’, looking to redefine what it means to be successful in today’s world.

Sarah says:

The book that has had an impact on me is ‘Thrive’ by Arianna Huffington. Arianna was one of the first high powered women to come out and say “enough is enough” and you don’t have to work all hours to be successful. Taking time out for you is just as important. It has become the normal narrative today but when I read this several years ago it was certainly an eye raiser.

‘Thrive’ has great reviews on Amazon:

Drawing on the latest groundbreaking research and scientific findings in the fields of psychology, sports, sleep and physiology that show the profound and transformative effects of meditation, mindfulness, unplugging and giving, Arianna shows us the way to a revolution in our culture, our thinking, our workplaces, and our lives.

Wishing you a very merry Christmas from KineticFuture! Look out for more KineticFuture bookclub recommendations in 2019.

In the meantime, drop us an email or give us a ring in the new year if you would like to talk about coaching which will help you thrive not just survive, we’d love to work with you.
